Composing a Children's Opera: illustrated workshop

Conor Mitchell (Creative director of the Belfast Ensemble, and SHC Fellow 2023) welcomes us to an open rehearsal and preview of his latest opera for children.

As part of the Homegrown NI Showcase, Young at Art Festival 2023

Join Conor Mitchell and the Belfast Ensemble in the School of Music at Queen's for a preview of their latest work for children. Part-performance, part-talk, part-workshop, Conor will give an insight into his creative process for adapting stories and composing opera for very young children. 

The Musician, Mitchell's previous opera for children, was co-produced with Young at Art in 2021 and has its German premiere with Oper Koln in Feb 2023.
