Andrew Pope joins our Write Night, in conversation with Dara McWade.
- Date(s)
- April 21, 2026
- Location
- The Wolfson Lecture Theatre, The Seamus Heaney Centre
- Time
- 17:30 - 19:30
Join cartoonist and editor Andrew Pope (No, Mean City! Low Intensity and Belfast Comics Jam) for a session all about comics, cartoons, and how to write them. We’ll be discussing the basics of the form, the fascinating history of the Belfast cartooning scene, and how to think about cartooning yourself.
It’s recommended each writer attending select and bring a page of their own writing (from a short story or novel) for an exercise in adapting it to a comics page.
The Tuesday Group is a long-running creative writing workshop for prose writers at the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s, coordinated by Dara McWade. Their regular Write Night sees a break from the workshop format to feature guest writers offering insights into their own writing lives. Find out more here.
Trust Your Voice is a new initiative for young people aged 18-25 at the Seamus Heaney Centre. We will be offering a programme of events, masterclasses and individual mentoring for two years.
